Well I’ve been searching for a while as to how you can move a selection and not just the guide or marching ants.

First, the problem.

Open up a document in the gimp, draw a shape with the paintbrush, I have just drawn a circle (although it looks more like a square). Select the rectangle select tool (or whatever select tool you want) and try try and select half of your shape. Now click the move tool and try and move it, uh oh, your only moving the rectangle selection box, your not actually moving the content that you have drawn. (If you don’t have this problem you may be using a different version of The Gimp).

The Solution

Select whatever you want with the rectangle select tool, in this case I will attempt to select half of the circle I have drawn. Click ‘ENTER’ on your keyboard to confirm your selection. Now Press Ctrl and Alt at the same time, and click and drag the center of your rectangle selection, you will now find you move the content.

Well with university and such fast approaching I fear that it is time I start to earn some cash. Whats that I hear you cry? ‘Get a job!’, No, never! Instead I will try and earn some money off the internet. It’s a big cash cow just waiting to be milked! I plan on desiging web templates, banners and icons. If I can  make 100pounds in the next few months I will be very pleased.

The waves crashed against the side of the overturned ship, gradually forcing it up the beach and crushing it against the rock face. Pies of all sorts lay on the beach, soggy and helpless whilst seagulls pecked away at their delicious meaty filling.

A fat man in a torn bakers uniform emerged from the water. He coughed and spluttered – much like in he did in his bakery. The mans glasses shimmered as the light from the rising sun reflected off the gravy filled water. Shouts for help could just be heard over the crashing waves, and the baker rushed to investigate. In the remains of the cargo hold he found the most unusual stowaway.

The stowaway was about the height of a boy, with large feet and curly brown hair everywhere.

“Are you an Umpa-Lumpa?” the baker asked.

“No, I’m a hobbit”

“A hobbit?” he asked in disbelief.

“Well technically I’m a Dwobbit, half dwarf half hobbit. I stowed away on your boat to try and look for a land of opportunities and employment, but then we docked in America…”

“Surely there must be work in middle earth, what is your trade?”

“I am a plumber by day and a treasure hunter by night, I also like to do a bit of pole dancing on the weekend but lets keep that under our hats… – ever since Frodo got rid of Sauron things have been  terrible, there is a huge famine and inflation rates are increasing all the time.”

“Well my friend, I will need help getting off this island. You are welcome to help me. I shall call you Friday.”

“I have a name, it’s Bildo Froggins.”

“As I said, I shall call you Friday about my leaking pipes. Since you asked my name is Piggy.”

“What an unusual name,”

“Yes, I assume their must be some sort of symbolism between me being called piggy, I bake pork pies, and no doubt I will encounter a pigs head on a stick during this journey.”

“We can only hope.”

Well today my new Walcom Bamboo Graphics Tablet arrived, it is really good but is gonna take some time to get used to.
Here is a little something I made today. It is Conservative MP Boris Johnson as a ‘Green’ Super Boris.
I’m not sure who I want to win the London Mayoral Election, but if it is Boris I’m sure I can take all the credit for rallying up support with this awesome image.
I might even turn it into a flash file with animated speech bubbles with policy details in them.
